The Smoke is the place where runaway uglies live and continue to be ugly. In my book Tally just reached the smoke and met up with Shay. Everyone there is ugly and if they once were pretty they made themselves ugly again. David one of the civilians has lived in the smoke his whole life, he never had a choice to live there or not.
Tally is in The Smoke but not by her choice. She is friends with Shay and messed around with her when they were Uglies but Tally has always been looking forward to being Pretty her whole life. Dr. Cable sent her to the smoke to find it and help lead her to it. Tally has not made her decision yet.
Should she lead them to The Smoke or stay there and be ugly forever?

Tally Youngblood
Tally Youngblood is the main character of my book "Uglies". Tally is almost 16, and counting down the days till she can get the procedure to make her become pretty. Her being younger than her best friend Peris had left her alone and ugly.
While Tally is sneaking around in New Pretty Town when she meets Shay. Shay is a different type of ugly, she doesn't look forward to her procedure and count down the days like Tally. She doesn't customize pretty faces on her wall or care about getting in trouble.
Tally loves messing around with her daredevil friend though she is more careful about what she does. She made a promise to Peris that she would not mess around anymore so they could be pretty together.

Uglies
I just started the book "Uglies" by Scott Westerfeld. This books first chapter really got my to keep reading and not want to put it down. I already recommend this book a lot. The whole story of the uglies and pretties is really interesting.
The book takes place in a futerstic setting with cool technologies. I can tell this book takes place in the future and is highly controlled. This setting reminds me of other stories I have read and really enjoyed. I will definetly keep reading this book.

The End
I finished my book "Looking for Alaska" last week. I really enjoyed this book. The ending was very good by throwing in one last curve ball to keep you thinking. The end had two important things going on. It always had something to keep you reading. I also really liked the characters. They seemed like real people and I could imagine them. I want to read another John Green book. This is his second book I have read. I like how he writes and his ideas for books.
I recommend this book to everyone. This would be a good book for all types of readers. If you get easily bored while reading this will keep you entertained. The ending was an unexpected turn for the story also.

Suspense
Suspense in books are really important, its what keeps the reader reading. I like books with a lot of suspense because I get really bored of a book if something exciting doesn't happen. The author of my book created a lot of suspense in my book my splitting up the book in to the "Before" and "After". You want to keep reading the book to see what happens in the "After" section.
More authors should do this to have a clear line on after the big climax of the story. More people will want to keep reading the book if they have something to look forward to, I know I did. Right now I am close to the end and far into the "After" section.

After.
I am on the second part of "Looking For Alaska" and just started the after section of the book. I really like the book so far, and do not want it to end. The after part is what I expected. My prediction was correct of what was going to happen. I will not spoil the book for you because it was so good and you should read it. I don't know what is going to happen in the after section because the big climax of the book already happened.
I really like how halfway though the book they had something big happen and showed the after of it. I like this because you really get to see what happens to the characters after the tragedy and how they react. I wish more books did this to show more of the aftermath of events. I can't wait to keep on reading and see what happens next.

About The Author: John Green
John Green is a very popular young adult writer and has wrote many books. The two books of his that I have read are "The Fault In Our Stars" and "Looking for Alaska". I plan on reading more of his books because so far I have loved them both. His first book was "Looking For Alaska" and was published in 2005. He lives in Indianapolis, Indiana and was born August 24,1977.
He first started his career with YouTube. Him and his brother had a channel called Brotherhood 2.0. It was a video blog of him and his brother communicating through YouTube and had fans that called themselves Nerdfighters. Him and his brother created Vidcon which is a big meeting for the online video community to get all the you tubers together and hang out.

My Prediction
I'm still reading "Looking for Alaska" and have been really enjoying it. I have been reading a lot and can't wait to see what happens. I'm still in the beginning and not to the big middle event that the chapters are counting own to. Half of my book is what happens before and the other half if the after section. I think that since the book is called Looking for Alaska the big thing will be something like Alaska will get hurt or lost in some way.
I don't think I'm far enough in the story to make one really clear idea of what will happen. Some ideas I have though are she will have a family or boyfriend problem. Or she will get kicked out of Culver Creek, or lose her scholarship. Something could happen that could put her life in danger or have accidentally hurt someone. I cant make a really clear idea so I am going to keep reading.

Looking For Alaska
I have recently started reading the book "Looking For Alaska" by John Green. It about a boy who started going to a private school called Culver Creek, because he wasn't happy with his old life. Culver Creek is located in Alabama which means it is always hot and they don't have the best air conditioning.
Miles the main character who is extremely tall and skinny soon gets the name "Pudge" because of his lack of it. He is from Florida and is there on a scholarship just like his other friends. He meets many new people including The Colonel, who is his roommate. Alaska, the beautiful but crazy girl. And Takumi the jokester and secret rapper. The story starts with "Before" and counts down the days until the main event of the story and then goes into the "After" section.

Blog Reflection
Favorite
Blog Post: http://sophiesullisreadingblog.blogspot.com/2014/01/faction.html
This blog is my best blog because it has a lot
of background information on the different factions and what they all mean and
how they work. Factions are an important part of this book because they are
something you always have to stay in and they are who you are. But if you are
Divergent you don’t have one, you have traits of all of them and you can’t let
people know this because the government doesn’t like people who are divergent
and they will kill them.
One goal I have for myself next trimester is
to read more often and go out of my comfort zone and try different types of
books. Next trimester for writing I want to write more often and get better at
writing different pieces and use more figurative language. Also I kept up on my
blogging pretty well though sometimes I was behind and I needed to use more
videos instead of just pictures. My goals for reading are to finish 6 books 2
per month and for them to be around 300 pages. Also, to write every day and
keep up a journal.
Insurgent
This is the book cover of Insurgent. The second book of the triolgy by Veronica Roth. Its the second book in the series that comes after Divergent. I just started it and do really like it thougyh it started out a little slower than the first book. Though I'm still going to keep reading to find out if it does get better. So far its just what is happening after Divergent and just continues on with what is happening. I do like how it is like the same thing as the first with same people and point of view to not confuse it so its like one really long book.

Summary
I finished the book Divergent and enjoyed the ending though it was very sad. It was very interesting and was a real page turner! Also, I just started the second book Insurgent. I do enjoy it but not as much as the first book. Though I did just start it and maybe something more interesting will happen soon.
There are 3 books in the series and do want to finish them all espesially if they do come out with other movies with the books. The author did say she was going to stop after 3 books though. She said 3 was how many books she felt was good for the series.

Over View and Movie
I have almost completed the book Divergent and I have loved it so far. It has been very interesting and kept me on the edge of my seat. I would recomend this book to anyone and hope you all get a chance to read it. I have not yet finished the book yet hough but cant wait to. The ennding has been great so far and so many unexpected things have happened. Also, the author is great at describing things and makes you feel like you are really there. The setting of the book in very good and you could imagine it very well.
There is also a movie coming out soon and I can't to watch and see how it varys from the book. The characters look just like how I imagined also.

Faction
In the book Divergent there are 5 different fractions; Dauntless, Abnegation, Erudite, Candor, Amity. But there si one special group who dosent have their own fraction it is Divergent and they have traits of all the fractions and are a threat to the government and they want to get rid of them. All different fractions have different qualities and jobs to help the city.
Dauntless:
-fearless
-undaunted
Abnegation:
-refuse or deny oneself
-to relinquish; give up
Erudite:
-great knowledge
-The word “erudite” focuses on knowledge rather than intelligence– intelligence being something you’re born with, and can’t necessarily control, and knowledge being something that you acquire. I find that interesting, given what I know about Erudite.
Candor:
-freedom from bias; fairness
-open and sincere
Amity:
-friendship, peace
-mutual understanding and a peaceful relationship, especially between nations
Divergent:
-diverging; differing
- (of a mathematical expression) having no finite limits

Divergent
My book Divergent is a very good book and I cant stop reading it! I really enjoy the whole concept and characters. There is always something interesting happening and keeps you reading. The story takes place in a world similar to The Hunger Games where there are different factions and they have different skills. Though there are way less then The Hunger Games and you get to change yours once you become at certain age. I cant wait to keep on reading!
