The article that I read was explaining how everyone has something in the their life that is happening to them and not everyone can understand it or relate to it. But that does not mean that it is not there. The article was about a rattling in a car that when she tried to show the dealership it was fixed already. The worker thought she was crazy just because he couldn't hear her "rattle". This article can relate to Holden because Holden has personal things happening to him and just because other people don't know whats wrong doesn't mean he is not.
"The heartbreak you should be passed already. The chronic pain that doesn’t go away from a long ago injury.
The brain injury that doesn’t show on the outside, but completely rewired you and your life forever.
The cancer you survived, but leaves you feeling unsettled.
Your rattle.
Like the guy at the car dealership, I can’t fix your rattle.
But I offer you today, this tiny gift—
I’m validating your rattle.
I hear it.
I see it.
I feel it.
I believe it’s there.
I hope this moment of understanding and acknowledgement gives you some comfort.

This quote shows how people can have rattles that you cant even see but they are still there. Holden's brother who died of cancer can be one of his rattles and if you didn't know that about him you could never tell from his outer appearance. A quote from the book showing on of Holden's rattles is, "He got leukemia and died when we were up in Maine, on July 18, 1946." This is about his younger brother Allie and how he was sick and dies.
