They deliver interesting information:
In this video he interests the audience by telling a cool story that you want to hear about. Also he is wearing a firefighter uniform which interests you by wondering why he is wearing it. He starts by telling you a personal story and you want to know what it is. Describes the environment and what it was like to be a volunteer firefighter.

Employ techniques of narrative:
He gets to his point in the end which is his message of the story. His message is don't wait to be a hero. Do something today even if it doesn't seem like much it will make a big difference. He says "I have witnessed generosity and kindness on a monumental scale. But I'm also witnessed act of grace and courage on an individual basis, and you know what I've learned? They all matter." This quote shows how everything matters no matter how big or small.  Uses imagery to help set up whats happening in your mind. He says "Here it was the middle of the night she was standing outside in the pouring rain, under an umbrella, in her pajamas, barefoot, while her house was in flames."

They employ humor:
His humor was when he told the story how the other guy got to save the homeowners dog and he was left with just getting her a pair of shoes out of the fire.  This humor in his story helps you connect to his story. Even when the house was on fire and that is a very serious moment he jokes about the dog and how his job was to just get shoes. This while story is a funny one with a meaning behind it even though its about  a fire.
